A disability persons think tank Compass was created to offer innovative solutions to Disability Rights, Inclusion and Sustainability.
We work to uphold the rights of people with disabilities to, live with dignity, have full access to community, economic and social engagements, to live independently, supported, free from violence, able to execute full choice and control, with autonomy over how and where we live or, participate in society.
Compass Disability is a Disability Representative Organisation (DRO) and a Disabled Person’s Organisation (DPO). This means that we exist to represent the perspectives of people with disability and we are staffed and supported predominantly by people with disability, their carers or direct supports.
As a Disability Representative Organisation, we offer lived experience perspectives to inform the development of social policy and change.
We: breakdown silos; increase accountability; collaborate; co-design; and elevate the diverse and marginalised voices of people with disabilities.
Driven by a desire to close identified gaps in inclusion, Compass uses co-design processes as the central tenant to project design.
We use both the human rights and social-model for disability and inclusion.
We take action from our unshakable position
diversity contributes to innovation
equality takes equity
We think about: building platforms for equity; accountability to policies with a disability lens; shared equity for people with disabilities in SDA, NIDS provider organisations and in housing.
We are collaborators, offering live-experience towards informed and inclusive platforms.
We can help you build platforms for equity in your industry.
We can help you take successful actions towards inclusion, disability rights, and sustainability.
